SAS Places Largest Aircraft Order in Company History

Scandinavian airline SAS has reached an agreement with Airbus for the acquisition of up to 40 widebody aircraft. Valued at more than US$10 billion at list prices, the deal is the largest aircraft order in the airline’s history.

The order is expected to include aircraft from the Airbus A330neo and A350 families, although the final number of firm orders and the aircraft mix have not yet been announced. The agreement is understood to include both firm orders and purchase options.

SAS plans to use the new aircraft to modernize its long-haul fleet and expand its intercontinental network. The airline’s current long-haul fleet consists of the Airbus A330-300, A350-900, and A321LR.
